Brantley and Tessa start learning to kayak
Fun in the sun is a motto we live by. Gary and I acquired a couple of sit-on-top kayaks last year and never had time to take them out due to lots of homestead projects and other things. This year we are bound and determined to make the time to use them. So, although the weather was not quite cooperating, this last weekend we loaded up the kayaks and dogs and headed to one of the local swimming holes where we met Ian, Jamie, grand kids, and Shasta. We chose this spot because it is mostly a calm stretch of water where Brantley and Tessa could start learning to use the kayaks.

Since the weather was a little overcast there were no other people there and it was nice to have the place to ourselves. We stayed for a few hours and the kids got to learn some of the basics of kayaking. Brantley had a bit of a rough time in a spot of faster current (his eyes were as big as saucers!), but he quickly learned and gained confidence by going through it several times.

Although we have several homestead projects lined up for the summer we are hoping to also have plenty of time for fun in the sun with the kids, grand kids, and kayaks.
