Apple Cran Crumble
Grandma Lisa gifted us with tart green apples and fresh frozen cranberries on their last fall visit so I wanted to try a fun new recipe or two. I was busy in the kitchen beginning to process the goodies when hubby suggested pie, twist my arm, let’s eat pie!
Filling:
- 4 cups sliced apples
- 1 cups cranberries
- 2 TBSP flour
- 1 TBSP brown sugar
- ¼ cup sugar
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- ½ tsp. nutmeg
- ⅛ tsp. ground cloves
- Pinch of salt
Combine in a bowl and let the flavors mingle while preparing crust.

Crust:
- 1¼ cups flour
- 5 TBSP butter – cold and diced
- ¼ tsp. salt
- ¼ tsp. sugar
- 2-4 TBSP water
Add flour in food processor and sprinkle butter over top. Pulse until butter resembles small peas. Add in salt and sugar then water – one tablespoon at a time. Dough should be crumbly but hold together when pressed. Turn out onto plastic wrap and form a disc. Cover tightly and refrigerate for at least one hour. When ready, roll out to a 9-inch circle and press gently into pie plate. Add apple filing to chilled pie crust

Crumble:
- 1 cup oats
- ¼ cup flour
- 1 TBSP butter – cold and diced
- ¼ cup crushed pecans – lightly toasted
- Dash of cinnamon and salt
Combine all ingredients in bowl. Use hands to break up butter and incorporate with other ingredients.
Preheat oven to 325° F. Once crust is prepared and in pan, add in filling then top with crumble. Bake for 45 minutes, remove from oven and let cool to room temperature (if you can!)
